Z hejiang Province is abbreviated to “Zhe”, with Hangzhou as its provincial capital. Zhejiang, which has a long history and splendid culture, is one of the cradles of ancient Chinese civilization and an important cradle of culture of the State of Wu and the State of Yue. As early as 50,000 years ago, during the Palaeolithic Period, there were primitive people “Jiande people” in Zhejiang; Hemudu Culture with a 7,000-year history, Majiabang Culture with a 6,000-year history and Liangzhu Culture with a 5,000-year history exist here. Z hejiang is located in the southern wing of Yangtze River Delta in China, adjacent to East China Sea in the east, Fujian in the south, Jiangxi and Anhui in the west and Shanghai and Jiangsu in the north.

Z hejiang has a subtropical monsoon climate, characterized by obvious monsoon climate, four distinctive seasons, moderate annual temperature, sufficient sunshine, abundant rainfall, moist air, simultaneous changes in rainy and hot seasons, diversified distribution of climate resources and lots of meteorological disasters. The average annual temperature in Zhejiang is 15-18℃, with the lowest temperature in January and the highest temperature in July in a year.

R ainfall is concentrated in May and June. Its maximum temperature is 44.1℃ and minimum temperature is -10.2℃. The average annual rainfall in the whole province is 980-2,000 mm, and average annual sunshine duration is 1,710-2,100 hours.

Z hejiang Province is one of the cradles of ancient Chinese civilization with a long history and splendid culture. Here over 100 historic sites in the Neolithic period have been discovered, including Hemudu Culture with a 7,000-year history, Majiabang Culture with a 6,000-year history and Liangzhu Culture with a 5,000-year history. Rich relics and remains have been obtained from “Kuahu Bridge Ruins” in the Neolithic Period newly discovered in Xiaoshan District. Zhejiang culture belongs to the typical “culture area in southeast China” and its main composition is the culture of the State of Wu and the State of Yue. It owns 88 national cultural relic protection units, 321 provincial cultural relic protection units and 1,674 city-level (county-level) cultural relic protection units, and owns almost 40,000 cultural relic protection sites. Hangzhou, Ningbo and Shaoxing are included in the first batch of historic and cultural cities of China.

A lmost all the year round is suitable for tour in Zhejiang, with April, May, September and October as the best. Zhejiang is characterized by distinct seasons, abundant rainfall, warm winter and cool summer. The lower temperature is between -1℃ and -3℃ in winter and the highest temperature is between 38℃ and 40℃ in summer. Tour in April, May, September and October avoids bitter cold and intense heat. It is warm in April and the plum rainy season ends in early May. Red peach blossoms and green willows are popular in summer. It is cool in September and clear and refreshing in October when osmanthus flowers are in full blossom, and lamb, crabs, seafood and other seasonal dishes are on the market.

A fter Mid-Autumn Day,it is the best time to view tide in Haining and take a tour. Most inappropriate season: The plum rainy season between May and June is characterized by several-month incessant rain, which is followed by intensive heat. During the May Day holiday and National Day holiday, the city witnesses pleasant weather as well as numerous domestic and international tourists, leading to crowded tourist attractions and rising market prices. During the Spring Festival period, traffic jams are common to see, making tour inconvenient. 1. Cixi City in May: In May bayberry is in full blossom, and Cixi bayberry ranks first in China. The annual bayberry festival is held in Henghe Town, 5 km south of Cixi City, where visitors may climb up Meishan Mountain to pick up bayberries and drink bayberry liquor.

Shipu Fishing Harbor in September: The annual China Fishing Festival is held in Shipu Fishing Harbor in mid-September, including Fishermen Lantern Fair, the Opening Ceremony of Thousand Boats Sailing Competition, Fireworks Gala, “Happy Fishermen” Elegance Tour, Local Folk Lantern and Dance Show, Sea Worshipping Ceremony and Parade Floats. 3. Double 3rd Festival in Lishui: The Elegant She Ethnic Elegance in Lishui. On the third day of the Chinese lunar month, the Double 3rd Festival in Shuanghougang She Ethnic Cultural Village and Jiangnan She Ethnic Cultural Village is a good choice. 4. Jinhua in October: Jinhua has its multiple festivals held in October, such as China Yiwu International Commodities Fair, China Orchid Festival, Jinhua International Wong Tai Sin Tourism Festival, and famous Fangyan Temple Fair from mid-September to Double 9th Festival in October.

Wonderful Quzhou in Autumn: Quzhou Tourism and Culture Festival held annually in October consists of South Confucius Culture-Oriented Tour, Jianglang Hill 100-meter Cliff Climbing Tour, Longyou Grotto Tourism and Culture Seminar, and Lanke Hill Go Culture and Tourism Month. 6. Huzhou in March: Spring in March witnesses Huzhou with its Egrets Valley full of peaches “brilliant” as “morning sun glows”, Hanshan Hill full of newly-hatched silkworm as sufficient as “an ocean”. Wonderful Autumn in October witnesses Yanshan Hill and Daochang Hill full of red leaves and woods deep-dyed. In both spring and autumn, its South Taihu Lake Resort and Xianshan Lake Scenic Spot in Huzhou are attractive and charming. Huzhou is also characterized by colorful festivals in various places, adding beauty and attraction to Huzhou tour and making it easier for visitors to know this city better.

Jiaxing in Mid-Autumn: During the period from the August 16 – 19 by Chinese lunar calendar, China International Qiantang River Tidal Bore Festival in Haining Yanguan and a variety of large-scale dance and traditional folk show activities are held, reproducing grand festive scenes of ancient people along the river based on the traditional customs. 8. Nanhu Lake in Jiaxing: In May of each year, Nanhu Lake Scenic Area in Jiaxing will hold a tourism festival, including Lotus Lanterns, Water Tug War (lotus grabbing), Riding White Boats, Rowing Performances and other water activities.

D uring the tourism festival, sweet dumplings festival, farmer paintings exhibition, folk art exhibition and photography exhibition, annual Xitang Tourism and Culture Festival, folk temple fairs, Jiashan elegance photography exhibition, rhododendron exhibition, Jiashan Rice Wine and Gourmet Traditional Crafts Exhibition are also held. 9. Shaoxing “Indian Summer”: The so-called “Indian Summer in Chinese lunar 10th month” following the plum rainy season is a right tour time, witnessing Shaoxing Rice Wine Festival and Hutang Osmanthus Festival.
